One ranking policeman who jumped to the help of a partner that got attacked by a knife attacker has been awarded the Monarch's Honor for Valor.

Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he placed a knife to the throat of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown began the violence as the officers and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist after a traffic accident in that location in summer 2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a electric weapon.

"Policeman knifed," the officer could be heard saying over his radio.

Bodyworn and dashboard camera recording released by the agency revealed Brown, who was dressed in black with a head covered, approach to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade outstretched.

He struck the policeman who tripped and fell to the street, before Sergeant Ansell jumped in and tried to wrestle him to the pavement despite being repeatedly struck with the weapon.

PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and waited for a safe opportunity, ending the confrontation to an finish.

Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "Can I get assistance on my throat now, I'm bleeding in the throat."

Sgt Ansell sustained two lacerations to his throat and additional wounds to his limbs and torso, whereas Sergeant Foster received cut injuries.

Officials stated Sergeant Foster employed his hands to stop his partner's bleeding before emergency responders reached the scene.

This most recent recognition arrives after the three officers were granted organizational Valor Recognitions in October 2023 and the police federation award from the local union branch in spring 2024.

They were also awarded a North West Valor Recognition in mid-2024.

"The efforts of the entire team eventually saved themselves and ensured no members of the public suffered any harm."

Brown was given to an secure medical confinement in April 2024, as stated by officials.
