Ex- National Football League Athlete Antonio Brown Files Innocent Plea in Attempted Murder Case

One-time National Football League player Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to face an murder attempt accusation stemming from a gunfire that took place in May, with his counsel submitting a not guilty response on his behalf.

Correctional documents in Essex, New Jersey, show that Brown was discharged on Tuesday early for his relocation to Florida. Brown, among the most famous players in the National Football League, had waived extradition to Florida from New Jersey, where he was taken after being taken into custody in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, said in an message that he has already lodged a formal not guilty response to the murder attempt accusation. Brown could be in a Miami court as soon as Wednesday morning for a bail session, Eiglarsh said.

According to his apprehension order, Brown is charged of taking a handgun from a protection staffer after a public figure match contest in May and discharging multiple rounds at a man he had confronted with previously. The claimed individual, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, stated to authorities that a bullet scraped his throat.

Eiglarsh asserted that Brown was simply protecting himself from Nantambu.

“The actions he was obliged to take were exclusively in self-protection against the alleged victim’s aggressive behavior. Brown was targeted that night and behaved within his legal right to safeguard himself,” Eiglarsh said.

Brown was not promptly arrested because initially police did not identify Nantambu as a victim. It not until later in May that Nantambu gave a detailed testimony about the situation to police and identified Brown as the shooter, the report says.

According to his digital updates, Brown had been staying in Dubai for multiple months. In a update after the incident, Brown stated he was protecting himself because he was “attacked by multiple individuals who tried to rob my possessions and inflict physical injury to me.”

A level two attempted murder accusation in the state of Florida imposes a utmost 15-year incarceration term and up to a $10,000 penalty in the event of a guilty verdict.

Brown has encountered several legal challenges over the period. He previously had been charged of physical attack of a delivery operator, multiple family violence accusations, inability to pay family payments and additional events.

Throughout a 2021 contest with Tampa Bay against the New York Jets, Brown stripped off his uniform, shoulder pads and gloves and exited the field, leading to his release by the Buccaneers and effectively concluding his professional journey.

Brown, who spent 12 years in the NFL, was an elite player who passed the majority of his tenure with Pittsburgh. For his career, Brown had over 900 catches for above 12,291 yards, the twenty-eighth highest of all time. He was a multiple-time prestigious pick.
