International friendly: Wales vs England

Venue: London's Wembley, London Date: Thursday, 9 October Kick-off: 19:45 BST

Craig Bellamy says the English squad depth is remarkable that a boxing promoter would not match them against the Welsh team.

Bellamy's men meet their neighbors in a non-competitive match at the national stadium on this Thursday before their important qualifying match against Belgium next the following week.

National team coach Thomas Tuchel has omitted the such as Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish from his selection for the Wales friendly and their qualifying game against the Latvian team.

"The English have a ridiculous team, similar to France," the coach said.

"They have a transfer market value of 1.4 billion pounds, ours is £170m. Were you a fight promoter, you wouldn't match us up. That wouldn't be permitted."

Bellamy says ensuring the Welsh team can face the star-studded rivals is a "driving force".

Bellamy continued: "We do not rely on values, but the reality is England have more than one team. They have multiple and the French and other nations have the same level. England have many great players and that's a fact."

"One right-back went out injured the recently and there are 24 more to go! They have over sixty players. I'd love Wales to be stacked similarly."

These two nations most recently met at the 2022 tournament in Qatar, when the English ran out easy 3-0 winners in a group match before the previous England team made it to the quarter-finals.

The new manager is Tuchel, a European and world club champion at the London club who has won domestic titles in Ligue 1 and his native Germany.

The Welsh boss was previously an coach at the Belgian side and the English club to Kompany, who succeeded him at Bayern Munich.

"Tuchel's an incredible manager - his record is proven," he noted.

"I possess a degree of insight because the team he departed I am familiar with people who have gone in there. I gain a bit of an insight from that of how he works and it's remarkable. "

"His strategic planning is elite and I wanted to be facing that - observe how we adjust because he will. I will get to learn from that. I'd love to reach such heights."
